2/10/2010 - 2008 Doctorate Recipients with CC Credits

It is well documented that 2-year college students do well at the next level – at the university. A University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) source indicates that 80% of its bachelor degree graduates have college credits earned from a college other than UALR. Now, new research shows that 2-year college students also do well at the highest levels of university graduate schools. New research on 2008 doctoral recipients shows 1 in 5 (almost 20%) earned college credits from a community college.

Dr. Jim Purcell, State Higher Education Director, is proud of that and sent out the notice about this new finding.

2/10/2010 - Possible Name Change Information
As Ouachita Technical College approaches its twentieth year as a college, the institution is entering a new phase in its history and for a variety of reasons, OTC should consider a new name. The current name fosters a misperception, conveying a limited scope of the college. As OTC enters an important era in its history, a new name will add to the awareness that the college is fulfilling its mission in diverse ways. The new name will not only reflect the currency of the variety of educational services of the college, but it will position the college for growth and expansion in the years to come. Renaming the institution will convey to the community a more dynamic approach to the multi-faceted mission of the college.

1/23/2009 - Emergency Alert Test Follow up

The first test of our Emergency Alert System is complete. The success of this system is dependent on the accuracy of your contact information in our Student Information System. At the beginning of every semester we will load the Alert System with your contact information from the Student Information System. If you did not receive any test messages, follow the instructions below.

If you are a college student and we have the correct email address on file for you, you should have received log in instructions via email that would allow you to update your contact information in our Alert System. If you did not receive this email it may be that we have an incorrect email address for you or no email address on file. If this is the case, please contact the helpdesk at 501.332.0285 to get this corrected.  If you did update your contact information in our Alert System, remember to also update your contact information in our Student Information System so we will have accurate contact information for the next semester.

All faculty and staff should have received the test messages. If you did not, contact the helpdesk for assistance.

As a reminder, we will be conducting another test on Wednesday, January 28th at noon. For further information, please visit http://www.otcweb.edu/campus-info/schoolcastinfo.asp
